A year after the acquisition of PACO Pumps by Grundfos, the integration process continues. The acquisition of PACO from Sulzer Ltd. included the head office and production facilities located in Brookshire, Texas and Wuxi, China, as well as four sales branches. This acquisition provided a key component to Grundfos’ growth strategy in the North American market, focusing on the commercial building services market.
The initial phase of the integration process of Grundfos CBS Inc., PACO’s new legal identity, with the existing Grundfos organization involved many key activities. “During the first phase of the transition, we had to make the company a viable, “stand alone” business,” said Larry Wimmer, General Manager of the Grundfos North American Region. “This included activities such as: implementing a new business operating system, complete rearrangement of the manufacturing and office facilities, separating the physical structures, re-establishing core business systems, and establishing independent sales and manufacturing support functions.” Exciting physical changes include improved lighting in the production facility, newly renovated offices in the existing building, and a new 10,000 sq. ft. office building.
The one-year mark of the acquisition arrives at a time when PACO’s 100-year anniversary celebration begins. 2007 will provide a number of events celebrating the founding of PACO Pumps, originally Pacific Pumping Company, in San Francisco in 1907.
The next phase of integration involves a focus on the commercial building services market through sales and service. Wimmer states that “we are near completion of the first phase of the transition. In the second phase, we will continue to grow and improve the business and its systems. The combined Grundfos and PACO sales teams will result in being a major force in the market place.” While the integration of the two organizations’ sales channels advance, the PACO and Grundfos brands will continue to remain as strong leaders in the commercial building services market.
